Director of Marketing Technology & Automation

Remote (US)

The Director of Marketing Technology & Automation will be responsible for managing and optimizing our new Marketing Technology Stack for Snappy - integrating with Salesforce, Redshift and our Internal platforms and databases.  You will report directly to the VP Marketing and partner with the R&D and Data teams to build out our Customer Data Platform and multi-channel toolset for Acquisition, Lead Nurture, Early Life and Engagement, Retention & Advocacy - initially for use in the US, but globally as we grow.

As Snappy expands from being a primarily Enterprise business, to one that will enable both SMBs and Consumers to send gifts, our Martech stack will become increasingly critical, and this role will be pivotal in leading the digital transformation of our customer experience to become more data-centric.  You will build a small team to drive the change management required, and maintain & develop our marketing toolset, customer data strategy and targeting for the future. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with a passion for customer centricity - either from having been in a similar role, led a marketing operations team or a marketing digital transformation, through a digital product management role or for a marketing automation platform or DMP - in order to be able to lead the strategic thinking and collaborate effectively with the data/R&D teams.

You will:

  • Own the Customer & Marketing data strategy, ensuring that we are capturing and leveraging relevant data in the customer journey to optimize experiences and marketing programs
  • Deliver a clear marketing platforms strategy & roadmap to re-engineering the E2E experience and implement new processes & tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead the International expansion project from a technical perspective - ensuring that we build the right infrastructure for rapid multi-country / multi-language growth
  • Manage & optimize our tech partnerships, contracts & pricing to ensure we’re operating effectively
  • Jointly own our CLV metrics and marketing ROI metrics, leading the technical aspects of our customer segmentation, targeting & CRM sequences to ensure they are driving growth - working closely with the Consumer, B2B Marketing & Data Engineering teams to drive growth through integrated customer experiences
  • Provide training & technical expertise to the marketing team to ensure that they are using the full capabilities of the platforms we have invested in
  • Develop our marketing data dictionary & own our data quality strategy, KPIs & processes
  • Share and leverage key learnings across Consumer & B2B to maximise marketing effectiveness for Snappy
  • Hire, develop & mentor technical marketing talent in the organization

You are:

  • An experienced marketing technologist who is looking to work at one of America’s fastest growing startups, and rapidly build the marketing & customer data capabilities for the next 3-5 years of growth.
  • A self-starter who is eager to both set strategy & roll-up their sleeves to get things done when needed
  • A digital native with strong knowledge & interest in current & potential platforms including the likes of Hubspot, Marketo, Segment, Braze, Iterable, Intercom, G-suite, Webflow, Zapier, Qualtrics etc
  • Experienced in integrating & structuring data from websites & databases to build growth programs
  • Results oriented, with strong project management skills and high attention to detail to ensure projects are delivered on time with minimal rework
  • Passionate about how technology and data can deliver outstanding customer experiences & marketing-led growth
  • An effective and enthusiastic communicator who enjoys collaborating across functions and levels
  • Commercially savvy and understands how to drive cost-effective growth quickly
  • Familiar with the challenges and opportunities associated with working in a growing startup environment
  • A strong and innovative problem solver who sees challenges as opportunities and embraces a growth mindset
  • New York / East Coast based (the role is currently remote, but may move to hybrid)
  • Inspired by our values - Positive, Passionate, Humble & Fearless
